One of the most concrete proposals appearing on the Augmented Social Networks list is a new proposal by Dr. Andrius Kulikauskas and team, calling for Effective Use of Marginal Internet Access. A collaborative effort by an enlightened self-interest group of activist individuals floated an open draft for the Soros Open Society Institute's Social Software Development grant program, whose announcement this summer spread like wildfire through the open development community.
Dr. Andrius Kulikauskas writes a well-designed blog Caring About Thinking and runs an open laboratory in Lithuania called Minciu Sodas, which is a bright light on the glowing horizon of electronic global society in Europe. The essence of his contribution seems to be the "ASP Incubator" but the plan also carries the touches of confessional blogger Bootstrap businessman Neil McEvoy and Joy Tang of oneVillage.
She and I would never see each other except we keep bumping into each other at the same events, last time was the Planetwork conference I believe, so I'm posting this news item right now because I discovered her personal connection to this project (Effective Use of Marginal Internet Access for globalizationally challenged peoples).
